FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION
Can you tell me about the likely customers and markets for the Key2 SRMa™?
The markets and customers for the Key2 SRMa™ include:
-- Digital network owners and operators - such as managed service providers, managed security service providers, and enterprise network systems. The drivers in this market segment to buy and use the Key2 SRMa™ include the increased government pressure to secure networks in today's hostile environment, the need to reduce operating costs and maintain high availability, and, for some, the upcoming HIPAA security regulations that affect the healthcare market.
Digital networks:
• Managed Service Providers
• Enterprise networks. The networks of large commercial companies
• Device Suppliers to the Networks. Such as the suppliers of Intrusion Prevention Systems. There are other vendor products that monitor network traffic, such as nCircle, that could use SRM™ technology to manage their device remotely located in the network.
-- Electric Power and Water Companies - in SCADA and process control systems. The electric companies and water companies use networks to control and manage their infrastructures. SCADA systems do this. The Key2 SRM™ technology has application to this market. Also, the coming broadband over powerlines technology is another application.
-- Financial markets: The networks that transfer financial data must be highly secure. Those networks are large and geographically dispersed. Managing the remote network devices in a timely, very secure, and expense saving manner is desired.
-- Medical systems:
• HIPAA regulations are driving the need for secure handling of patient data.
• There are also medical equipment vendors who remotely manage their diagnostic equipment. Remote access to medical devices should be secure. Telemedicine is also developing to provide specialized medical expertise in the operating room and at the remote site. Highly secure management of that communication is critical.
-- Broadband access providers - DSL and Cable providers require secure, instant access to remotely located modems, reducing the need for on-site service calls. Secure and redundant access paths would provide a big service boost to customers, and a cost savings to the DSL and Cable companies. No more tortured home office or small office customers waiting for the service visit while their broadband service is off-line.
-- Home Media Center systems: Coming soon are home media centers that permit you to choose the TV shows and movies you want to see and have them downloaded to a home media center. You can then pay for and watch what you want, when you want it. No more trips to the video store and no need to subscribe to 50 cable channels when you only watch and want a few. Managing those home media center systems is a large market for the SRM™ technology. This is a change that is going to be great for us all. The way we get, pay for and select TV shows and movies is about to change in a big way.
-- Telephone Companies - for maintaining remote equipment such as the DSLAMs.
